We’ve had a bit of sunshine but lots of fog and frost this week… winter’s on its way. I quite like winter, as long as it doesn’t rain. I quite like the heating and the cuddles… though just at the moment, even when I let her close the doors, she keeps opening them again to cool down. Normally she’d be the one complaining about me wanting them open all the time… but they stand open half the night now, what with her being weirder than her normal weird and hardly ever seeming to stay in bed for long.
I’m missing my beauty sleep.
It has not been the best of weeks, I have to say. They were out for ages one day… much longer than they should have been… and she came back all punctured and smelling of the two-legs Vet and weird chemically stuff again. I didn’t like it. I don’t think she did either, ’cause she was a funny colour.
Myself, I think she needs a new vet if she’s going to come back looking like that…
She can always have mine π
She’s needed me to look after her too, what with all the bangs and pops over the past few days. Every time she has sat down in the evening. I’ve had to hold on tight to her feet to protect her. I just don’t get why you two-legses like being frightened? And yet you seem to! I mean, with the fireworky things, I can understand the smell… that’s quite interesting, floating on the breeze, and the lights are pretty enough… but do they really have to go bang so much or so loudly?
And before that, it was the ghosties and ghoulies… and you seem to enjoy watching and listening to all sorts of things just designed to be scary… I don’t get it.
And why do we talk about scaredy cats when cats are NEVER scared..?
I don’t like being scared. It makes everything feel wrong. So what is it with two-legses?
She says it is good practice… that you play at being scared so that when something real happens, you know what to do. I watched her grandpuppies playing and she might have a point. They ask to get chased and scared and have to hide… just so the ‘monster’ can catch them and eat them up. And they think it is fun… and always want to do it again. They must like it.
They used to be scared of me too, the grandpups… although, I have to wonder now whether they were really scared… or just playing at being scared so they could stop being scared eventually.
We are best friends now. They sneak me loads of treats, but I like getting caught just for the cuddles.
Much love, Ani xxx
Nice one Ani there’s accounting for two legs π

Now Ani, really, you must know by now that cats DO get scared. They try to hide it to preserve their reputation as cool customers, but believe me they get scared by the silliest of things. Tell you what, just sneak up behind one of them and bark really loud. After it comes out from under the sofa or down from the tree, it will avoid you for days. Lots of fun! Try it!
Keep up the good work, and lots of love to your human.

The way of two legses. Far too confusing, Ani.
Though I have to say, when it comes to whizz pop things, I’m afraid they scare this cat… And strange visitors in my house…

I hate when the humans have to go to their vet lots… They smell so funny. Plus, they never take me, which isn’t fair. Anyway, glad she has you to keep her safe. We had the bangs around here too. Mostly we didn’t mind – even my scaredy cat of a little brother, Logan – but there were some that got too close, so we had to bark at those. She didn’t want us barking though, so she was singing to us to distract us. We like when she does that – we love her singing, even if she’s not sure it’s any good – and kept forgetting to bark. Lots of licks, Lilie

MIne sings too… and I am pretty sure she shouldn’t. π Sounds like cats… xxx

Sorry about that… That’s got to be tough on the ears. Mine sounds OK. There are better singers out there among the humans for sure, but she’s not bad to listen to. Lots of licks, Lilie

You are a brave Ani. My old dog used to tremble and pant all night on November 5th (and the weekends either side, and New Year’s Eve). It was horrible to watch, and none of our reassurances or calming pills, plug-in smells or cuddly vests helped at all. At such times, we didn’t mind that she was deaf in her last couple of years.
Oh, the relief that both our present dogs are (so far) unfazed by fireworks or thunderstorms or bird-scarers. (Personally, I don’t think they have the imagination to be frightened.)

I find I am okay as long as I can make sure her ankles are safe… I don’t like it if she wanders off far. And she lets me sit under her desk to guard her. And the curtains are closed… π

Two-legses are certainly strange when it comes to being scared. I’m one that doesn’t like it, though, so I suppose I’ll not be OK if I ever get in a frightening situation.
You keep on guarding her, Ani. She’s a very special person.

Brave girl Ani. Fireworks are too noisy, but when you’re almost deaf, it doesn’t matter. The bright colours are pretty but annoying as they dazzle, but the smell. That really gets to me. The legs, ears and eyes might be letting me down, but I can still smell for England. Should’ve been a sniffer dog……… seems any babes I had would have been trained for that.
Look after your Twolegs Ani. β€ Maggie. xxx

I’m with you on the puppies. They were looking for a nice ‘daddy’ but never found one, though they made enquiries about homes and training before even thinking about it. Still, I got loads of love. I’m too old now anyway. X

Snuggle with your two legs as much as possible, it’ll be good for both of you. They call me a scardy dog because I’m scared of many things like ladders and plastic bags and even rain. Sending cuddles and licks your way. Your friend, Dot.

I’m with you, Ani, I don’t like being scared either! Can’t watch horror movies or read horror books, although I guess you probably don’t have to worry about that. I figure, life is scary enough at times without adding to it, right? Just one thing though, not sure you’re right about cats. My two seem to need rescuing by Mogi every night. Or maybe they’re just pretending because /she/ likes to do the rescuing? I mean, a chihuahua cross dog is never going to be as big as a cat, or a possum, or a fox. Luckily Mogi is /loud/. lol
Hope the week ahead starts to get easier for you and Her. -hugs-

I think you could be right, Ani. Mogi may believe Da Boyz are part of her pack, but they believe she is /their/ dog. We humans just tag along for the ride. π
