The Small Dog gets Busted

I may be in the doghouse
‘Cause, “Your face gives you away,”
I’ve not a clue what she might mean…
I’d just gone out to play!

“Don’t come the innocent with me,
I know what you’ve been at…”
I wondered how, from in the house,
She’d seen me chase the cat…

“Have you been digging, girlie?”
That’s unfair, how did she know?
I thought if I could plant something
Then maybe it would grow…

I wondered if she’d noticed
That I’d trampled on her rose?
“I know what you’ve been doing…
I can see it on your nose.”

I’d seen her planting seedlings,
When I said they were too small,
She’d promised me by summer
They would be all big and tall.

She said that that’s what gardens do
I thought it heaven-sent…
So with my little chicken treat
I thought I’d ‘xperiment…

‘Cause my treats are just little ones
I thought, if I could dig
And bury one beneath the earth
It might grow really big!

She’s not all bad, though treats won’t grow
She told me to my sorrow,
She says if I dig no more holes
She’ll buy me one tomorrow 🙂

  1. Ani, hard to believe Lady’s doppelganger could be living so far away and be of Irish stock. She’s currently asleep under my desk with her chin on my foot. No doubt, she believes she’s the source of all my ideas and scribblings great and small. Lady got into a a spot of trouble when she rolled in a dead rat. She thought she was being incredibly clever because she is at heart a hunting dog, who lived out on a farm before she came to us when she was 2 and became something of beach dog. All the dogs were in for a rare bath after that and Zac reacted very badly and thought it his loyal duty to snap at the water from the hose.
    One thing you could remember Ani, is that honesty and transparency are valuable personality traits and I admire how you don’t go to any effort to hide your sins.

    1. She say there is no point hiding my sins when they are as plain as the nose on my face 😉
      I agree with Lady, though, one of the bst places to be is under the desk. Mind you, my two-legs is so short she needs a footstool to reach the floor,so I just put my feet on hers while I sleep there 😉 xx
